➡ Solve for Bharat segment commuters and families.
➡ Solve for one of India's dominant transit modes.
➡ Solve for the future of urban transit in India.
We are looking for candidates proficient in a variety of fields. Although we are looking for some specific skill-sets, we are always observant of the horizon to spot new ideas and ways to solve problems. If you can offer something beyond the limitations of the list below, let us know how the mission of Meiro Mobility can be benefited.
P.S.: There is something more to be said about the types of candidates we're seeking. Depth of knowledge is as valuable to us as is breadth. A practical DIY approach is essential in a startup, and we are looking for it. But an academic orientation is equally welcome here, because we deal with both types of issues. We try to perform requisite research and analysis regarding macro and micro elements - system architecture, business model feasibility, transit planning, etc. - to be able to derive fruitful results on ground with whatever we build. So don't hesitate to apply - what is most important is for you to be able to apply yourself.
Hiring categories drop-down menu:
Design, Engineering, and Hardware
Looking for designers and engineers with a hands-on bent of mind. Early projects may involve prototyping on development boards, product planning and system architecture development, creating product engineering specs, rapid prototyping, etc.
- Industrial and product design (manual/digital sketching & rendering, product design, materials, NPD processes and frameworks, user testing)
- User experience design (UI/UX design for web, mobile, and conceptual)
- Transport-related Engineering (transit data collection/analysis
- Electronics prototyping (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, IoT platforms like custom boards, Eagle PCB)
- FDM 3D printing (or other processes)
- Sound with engineering principles and software tools (mechanical/electrical CAD, FE simulation, Matlab, LabView, etc.)
Need anything be said about this crucial aspect? Just buckle up and polish your skills, wherever in the stack you lie. Projects include prototyping Android/iOS applications in prototyping environments and actual code for testing in the field,
- Android/iOS platform development (front-end, back-end)
- Web development (HTML, PHP, etc.)
- Server-side development (Node.js, Firebase/GCP/AWS, SQL/NoSQL, Mongo, etc.)
- Augmented reality app development (ARCore, ARKit, Vuforia, ARToolkit, etc.)
- Engineering and Data (Visualization & Analytics) (RStudio, Matlab, sci/engg in Python, Tableau and equivalents, etc.)
Management & Other
Every commercial project starts small, but is made to grow large. Seeking high-calibre folks who can function at the heart of the matter. You will be involved in projects such as finding solutions for marketing to lower income segment using non-traditional and data-driven intelligent marketing tools, performing feasibility analysis and business data simulations, providing real-time insights from operations to inform planning. For the more adventurous types, we have some interesting and important sub-projects (an example: analyzing choice architecture for designing utilitarian services).
- Marketing (market research, pricing, product management, promotion)
- Business model and market planning (financial modelling, risk analysis, accounting, etc.)
- Documentation (business, engineering and non-technical documentation)
Content & Graphic Design
Creatives alert. Imaginatives ahoy. We're trying to build a product, yes, but we are also building a brand. We're making it in a market where there are many, many perspectives to bear in mind. A select number will be involved in the core brand identity development process. Other responsibilities would include developing various media elements and content for web, print, and video. And making better mailers than this one.
Brand identity development (visual identity, communication identity, regional language focus, design system development)
Graphic design (for web and print media)
Writing (content development for website, blog, social media)
Animation and Video editing

Intermediate paratransit is a dominant mode of transport in almost all Indian cities. The rickshaw has been an unflinching icon of India for the world, and not just the world of transport. It is lauded for its form factor, its agility, and the fact that it encourages personal entrepreneurship. Besides formal public transport, it is the mode that can arguably boast of the highest fraction of shared rides. IPT is important - it is important for the health of public transport and for the trajectory of urban transport for our cities. We are here to refurbish the IPT sector with technical interventions, user experience design, and an architectural shift for the system. So, why do we need to do this? And why now?
IPT is typically self-operated and self-managed, which means there is no global optimization being performed to minimize resource use and maximize earnings or throughput. External as well as internal research suggests that wastefulness (of fuel, time, etc.) may be at around 20-40% or higher against the optimal baseline. Regulation in the sector lacks enforcement and leads to erosion of customer utility via malpractices in pricing. Due in part to these conditions, drivers' lifestyles rarely see an upward tick.
All in all, we have a whole bunch of vehicles in each city (which is at times far too big a bunch than required), non-standard user experience and pricing that leads people towards private vehicle use over shared vehicle use, and a rather big bunch of commuters that still want mobility options that are flexible like private vehicles and cheap like public transport.
To compound the challenge, India's smartphone ownership rates are increasing but digital literacy rates are not at par with it. Existing technical solutions such as ride-hailing and ride-pooling are far too complicated for the average user. (They are also not very relevant at the scale of IPT.) Our service and product design philosophy centres around the "Bharat" customer segment, which helps us to design inclusive services for all segments of society. For our cities to turn into Smart Cities transport-wise, our solutions will be fundamental to bring in the next generation of flexible transit.
And of course, electric is the foreseeable future of vehicles. Our background in core electric vehicle platform development (Cambio Motion, ex-IIC incubatee) helps us envision vehicle systems that can be brought in to enhance operations and suppress the ill effects of the existing IC engine-based IPT vehicles.
At its core, the challenge we deal with is the need to add a technology layer while serving the less digital-savvy, deploying cost-feasible tech-enabled mobility to the full scale of IPT, and making sure that we're not being counter-intuitive to ideas of environmental sustainability. We think its a problem necessary to solve to help propel India's cities into a less gritty and more beautiful environment. Finally, as is well understood, better mobility is positively correlated to economic output and growth.
